About
The researchers associated with this initiative were predominately drawn from School of Design and the Built Environment. Associations were built across other Schools within the Faculty of Humanities and more broadly into the University. Within the Faculty researchers are involved in projects associated with disabilities studies, social justice studies and architectural and interior design as well as planning and construction.
The chief investigators, Dr Elizabeth Karol and Dr Dianne Smith have been employed as practitioners prior to entering academia. Therefore, they have strong professional, as well as academic, connections to industry and to local and international practitioners. There are opportunities for undergraduate and post graduate studies to add to the knowledge base which is being developed. This project aligns with one of Curtin University’s key research foci, health.

Dianne and Elizabeth are directors of the design research consultancy, DEKS located in Perth, Western Australia. The outcomes of their research work is freely available on this website.
